Fresh From the Farm...

There is absolutely nothing like fresh fruits and vegetables grown locally and straight from the farm. So we've been trying to go to the Farmer's Market on Sundays lately, but it's been close to impossible. The market is early in the morning at 8am and it closes pretty early too (around 11:30). It's just at a bad time for us. We'd either have to go right before church or get up early and go to the first service and then go to the market right after. If you know anything about my family none of us like to get up early... not even Lizzie. For some reason it is extremely painful and difficult to have to wake everyone up and get out of the house before 9am. It's nearly an impossible task (that's why we go to church at 10am otherwise we'd never go).

Anyways back to the Farmer's Market... I was so excited because the city was starting one on Thursday afternoons. (yea... we can make that one)! Well, we went and I was extremely disappointed. There was nobody there and not very many vendors. I feel like I'm somewhat spoiled when it comes to local markets because there were some pretty nice ones where we used to live. But granted it was their very first week, so here's hoping that it gets bigger as summer approaches, but I need something to tide me over until that happens (if it happens). And that's where Francisco's comes in.

I love this place! It's a great little (actually pretty good sized) fruit/vegetable stand just outside Fillmore in citrus heaven (it smells so good out there in the country). So now I've found my excuse to take that beautiful drive, I was telling you about earlier, every week to get my fix of wonderful local produce. Not everything there is local though (like the apples and bananas) but not only does it taste a lot better than the grocery store produce it's a whole lot cheaper and open everyday of the week. Lizzie was such a great little helper while we where there too... that little girl will go anywhere with you as long as it's outside.
