So, I really think all of the kids we hang out with have their birthdays in late spring because birthday madness has begun. Yesterday was Sydney's birthday party (Sydney is Heidi and Nathaniel's, who Ben works with, little girl). It was a Peter Pan themed party so everyone dressed the part. The birthday girl was Tinkerbell, Nathaniel was Capt. Hook, the three boys that came were pirates, all the other girls were fairies, one Princess Tiger Lily and Lizzie was Wendy. I thought she made an adorable Wendy (minus the curly hair and I have no idea how she ended up with wings on) and I was very proud of my thrifty self. I only spent $6 on the dress (bought from Children's Orchard... a resale kids shop) and $1 for the ribbon. I refuse to spend $40 on a costume for someone's party, especially if the kids really don't care and just want to play and get dirty. A lot of the kids already have a bunch of stuff because they have dress-up trunks, but Lizzie doesn't have any of that stuff yet. One of these days she'll have one. The costumes were not mandatory, of course, but it does make for some pretty cute pictures.
And I totally should have listened to Ben... he said the whole day was shot because of the party and I told him it wasn't because it was only a couple hours and he'll have the rest of the day to do whatever. I should have known better.... we were going over to my best friend's house (and Nathaniel's too) and we ended up staying for dinner and just hanging out after the party. It was around 7pm when we finally got home and the party started at 1pm. ;) It was a great time (Lizzie always loves going over there... Neela's one of her favorite kids to play with) and I'm so thankful we have some really great friends down here.
