No more little baby... (it makes me kind of sad). Little Lizzie is not so little anymore. I might even have to change my banner now. :) She is turning into quite the toddler. Lizzie has gone through quite a few changes since any of you saw her last. She insists on being a "big girl" now. Here's just a few...
No more bottles (yea), it took us forever to find a cup that she liked. We would go to the store and Lizzie would be all into one there and then we'd bring it home only to be rejected once the plastic came off. I don't even want to count all of the ones in our cabinet that did not work for her. The only cup that she'll drink out of is good old Tupperware’s. You know the primary colored plastic cups with the white lids that claim to be somewhat spill resistant, but really are not. Ben said he had those cups as a kid. I find it funny that Lizzie's using the same ones. I can't believe they still make them the exact same way.
Lizzie has always been a bit more adventurous in her food choices than the average baby (we went to Pasta Pomodoro the other day and she would not eat the bread unless it was dipped in the pesto sauce), but she definitely has her favorites. She loves chicken nuggets (what kid doesn't), and grilled cheese, but not made with bread but made with tortillas... quesadilla style. If you see her eat you might think that she's kind of picky... Ben says, she just knows what she likes. I still can't get the little girl to eat very many vegetables though. As part of the new "big girl" phase she now eats at the table in her booster seat with us instead of in her high chair. She sure loves that!
Lizzie still is not walking yet, but she completely stands up on her own all the time now. She was really late to sit up on her own... I'm sure walking will be the same. She's a very fast crawler and an excellent climber though, so her motivation to walk probably just isn't there. Her fine motor skills are incredible though (as you can see from the video before this post)! Lizzie can draw, do puzzles, build a tower of 4 blocks, and knows where all of the shapes in her sorter go. Lizzie also loves to turn pages and flaps in her books (not just her books either, any book). It's hilarious to watch because she's very meticulous about the process... one page at a time and it must be in the right order otherwise she starts over.
Lizzie is also quite the social little butterfly. I don't know where she gets it from. Neither of us (Ben or I) are very outgoing. She is talking all of the time now. Most of it is still gibberish, but you can tell it's very specific gibberish. She's definitely trying to say something all of the time. Besides mama, daddy and nana (for Nigel), she says hi, wow (which is her new favorite thing to say) and she points at objects and asks "what's this?". She's starting to associate sounds with objects too. If you show her a picture of a dog (or if she see one somewhere) she'll start barking at you. It's really adorable.
I think that's all for now... I think I hear a baby up from her nap.
